Preventative maintenance with your transmission
Winter or some of our warm weather friends call is "off season" is rapidly approaching. let's talk about preventive maintenance. What transmission fluid should I run, what filter, how often do I need to change my fluid, is my converter past its expiration date (IYKYK LOL)?
You can view the image to determine what the fluid type that we recommend for OUR transmissions. If you have had someone else build your transmission you should refer to your builder for the type of fluid, they recommend you using.
How often should I change my fluid? This will determine the use of the application. If you are driving the application very hard or towing a lot we recommend doing a service once a year or every 12,000 miles. If this is your show car or daily driver, we recommend every two years or 24,000 miles.
We recommend using factory style filters. AC Delco, Motor craft etc. If you have an aftermarket transmission pan, please refer to the manufacture of filter depth if they have a suggestion.
Take the time to check over your transmission cooler fittings, dipstick, TV Cable boots to ensure there are no leaks. When you are looking everything over check your transmission cooler make sure you have proper space around the cooler and there isn't any debris to prevent overheating.
