4R100 4X4

The 4R100 4X4 replaced the E4OD in 1999 and was built specifically to handle the torque output of the 7.3L Power Stroke diesel through the 2003 model year. Every Ford 4R100 transmission for sale at Gearstar starts with this proven platform and is rebuilt by a single master technician, with upgraded internals matched to your horsepower and torque goals.

We offer the 4R100 4X4 in two build levels. Each one is dyno-tested with its torque converter before it ships, so the unit in the box has already proven it can handle real load.

Level 3

Here are the features of our level 3 performance transmission:

• Rated up to 500 HP and 500 ft-lbs of torque at the crankshaft
• 12-inch custom-built, custom-stalled multi-disk billet lock-up converter (Yank Performance)
• Stall speed: 1,300 to 2,200 RPM
• Master overhaul kit with new steels and Raybestos high-energy, high-heat frictions
• TransGo heavy-duty reprogramming shift kit with Shift Command
• High-capacity 5-plate forward clutch pack, 6-plate direct clutch pack
• Steel overdrive planetary gear set, hardened drive shell and input shaft
• High-volume pump assembly with new gears, steel 6-pinion front planetary
• Built for diesel-powered 4x4 trucks running tow-and-go or moderate off-road duty

Level 4

Here are the features of our Level 4 performance transmission

• Rated up to 600 HP and 550 ft-lbs of torque at the crankshaft
• 12-inch custom-built, custom-stalled multi-disk billet lock-up converter (Yank Performance)
• Stall speed: 1,300 to 2,200 RPM
• All Level 3 internals plus the highest clutch capacity in the lineup for added torque holding margin
• 4-plate intermediate clutch pack and 3-plate overdrive clutch pack
• Roller bearing center support, complete Torrington bearing kit
• Updated late-model solenoid pack and PWM torque converter clutch control
• Built for serious power additions: turbo upgrades, injector changes, and aggressive tuning

Which Ford Trucks Use the 4R100 4X4

The 4R100 4X4 fits Ford Super Duty trucks (F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550) built from 1999 to 2003 with the 7.3L Power Stroke diesel and four-wheel drive. It also fits the 5.4L supercharged F-150 Lightning and Harley-Davidson Edition trucks from the same era, which used the 4R100 for its higher torque capacity over the standard F-150 transmissions.
