Description
Description
4R70W Level 3 designed for Ford Small Block engines using a 2-bolt starter and 4x4 applications with factory Ford Bronco Dana 20 transfer case. This will require the use of a standalone transmission controller unless this is going into a factory application. Our 4R70W transmissions are designed to work with 1998-2003 wiring for standalone transmission controller. Builders working with traditional 302 or 351 Windsor engines rather than modern modular blocks should opt for this transmission.

Dimensions
This transmission assembly is 26-1/2" overall in length and is 1.750" longer than early Bronco drivetrain assemblies. The original V8 drivetrain assembly is normally 24.750", resulting in approximately a 1-3/4" difference.
Notes
- The U-shaped shifter pattern used on the later model Bronco transfer cases may not be compatible with this adapter housing. You will need to either modify the mounting or change to the earlier model shifter pattern that had a straight design. This requires new shift rails to be installed in the transfer case.
- The crossmember support provided on the bottom of the new adapter housing is very similar to the original support bracket. It may be necessary to modify the donuts and bolts in order to assemble the existing crossmember to the new adapter housing.
- This kit has been designed to retain the stock Bronco rubber T/C mounts. These mounts were previously equipped with a 1/2" bolt. Our casting has been drilled and tapped for a 7/16" bolt. We have supplied this kit with the necessary sleeves, washers, and bolts to properly secure this adapter.
