Description
The Dakota Digital RTX-68C-CVL-X Instrument System is a bolt-in replacement gauge cluster designed for the 1968 Chevy Chevelle, Malibu and El Camino, built to fit the two large square gauge openings created when GM redesigned the A body dash for that model year. The system uses the stock bezel while adding a full suite of 21st-century features, including a full-color TFT message center positioned under the speedometer and an 8,000 RPM tachometer centered within a quad-gauge layout.
As part of the RTX series, this instrument system is engineered to preserve the factory appearance while delivering modern functionality. Careful attention has been paid to OEM design elements in layout, face styling and indicators, so the cluster appears original at a glance until the LED backlighting is activated in the color scheme of your choice.
CNC machined housings house electronics designed and built in-house by Dakota Digital, and the high-definition TFT message center can be configured to display a wide range of vehicle information. A central control box simplifies installation and setup. Note: the bezel is not included; the system uses an OEM or reproduction style bezel.

- Independently adjustable daytime and nighttime brightness, controllable through the RTX setup menu
- Full LED/RGB backlighting for strong contrast and visibility day or night
- Pushbutton control via included two-sided rocker switch for setup and operation

Included Sensors

- Cable Driven Speed Sensor/Generator: Replaces GM style speedometer cables with a 10 ft harness; requires approximately 5" of clearance between the cable drive output and any obstruction
- Bushings: 1/8" to 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" NPT bushings, plus 12mm and 16mm x 1.5 thread bushings
Notes
- Not all OEM indicator lamp functions will be replaced; unused indicators may be repurposed as needed for the application
- Gear position indicator requires optional GSS-3000 sensor
- DIM-1 accessory available for on-the-fly rotary brightness control
- Part # 130011 (sold separately) allows relocation of the pulse generator when additional clearance is required; Tremec and Ford style adaptors available on request
- Speedometer calibration can be skipped if a GPS-50-2 is used
