Description
The Dakota Digital RTX-70P-FIR-X is a direct-fit RTX Instrument System designed for the 1970-81 Pontiac Firebird. Dakota Digital studied the factory instrumentation to recreate the original styling while incorporating modern electronics, giving the dash an OEM appearance until the ignition is switched on and the full-color LED backlighting comes to life.
Machined aluminum gauge bezels are finished in matte black and house full-color TFT message centers along with precision stepper motors. The kit includes five gauges, and even if oil pressure and water temperature gauges are omitted from a three-gauge dash configuration, that data remains available through the digital message centers.
Built from CNC-machined housings with electronics designed and built in-house, the RTX series utilizes a central control box for simplified installation and setup. The high-definition TFT message centers can be configured to display a wide range of vehicle information, combining the classic Firebird look with late-model functionality.

- Cable-driven speed sensor/generator with 10 ft harness, replacing GM-style speedometer cables (requires approximately 5" clearance between cable drive output and any obstruction; part # 130011, sold separately, allows relocation of the pulse generator when additional clearance is needed)
- Bushings for 1/8" to 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" NPT, plus 12mm and 16mm x 1.5 thread applications
Notes
- Gauge bezel is not included; system is designed to work with an OEM or reproduction style bezel
- Gear position indicator requires optional GSS-3000 sensor
- On-the-fly rotary brightness control can be added with the optional DIM-1 accessory
- Not all OEM indicator lamp functions are replaced; unused indicators may be repurposed as needed for the application
