Description
The Dakota Digital HDX-70P-FIR-K is a drop-in HDX instrument system engineered for 1970-81 Pontiac Firebird and Trans Am models, featuring a black alloy gauge face finish. Complete with matte-black, machined aluminum gauge bezels designed to suit the existing dash panel, this system brings modern electronic instrumentation to the classic Firebird dash while retaining the factory-style appearance.
The kit includes five gauges along with twin TFT message displays as standard equipment. For vehicles originally equipped with a three-gauge dash, the Oil and Temp gauges can be left out to avoid drilling extra holes, with that information remaining available through the message centers.
Each HDX system allows independent selection of illumination colors for the gauge readings, needles, and message centers. Calibration and personal settings are managed through built-in capacitive-touch buttons or the available Bluetooth app for Apple and Android devices. Needle hubs are black nickel plated spun-aluminum to match the buttons.

- Cable Driven Speed Sensor/Generator: replaces GM style speedometer cables with a 10 ft harness; sensor requires approximately 5" clearance between the cable drive output and any obstruction
- Bushings: 1/8" to 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" NPT bushings, plus bushings for 12mm and 16mm x 1.5 threads
Notes
- Gauge bezel, facia, and dashboard are not included; the system uses an OEM or reproduction style bezel
- Part # 130011, sold separately, allows relocation of the pulse generator when additional clearance is required for the speed sensor
- Gear Position indicator requires the optional GSS-3000 sensor
- The DIM-1 is a common accessory for adding on-the-fly rotary brightness control
- Not all OEM indicator lamp functions will be replaced; unused indicators may be repurposed as needed
