Description
The Dakota Digital RTX-71C-CAP-X is a direct bolt-in instrument system upgrade for 1971-76 Chevrolet Impala and Caprice full-size cars. Built on the RTX platform, this system retains the stock gauge layout, face styling and indicator placement for an authentic factory appearance, while adding modern features like color-changeable LED backlighting and a high-definition TFT message center that can be configured to display the information most important to you.
Each RTX system starts with a CNC-machined housing filled with electronics designed and built in-house by Dakota Digital. A central control box simplifies installation and setup, while a pushbutton rocker switch and companion mobile app (Android and Apple compatible) allow for easy configuration, calibration and real-time diagnostic readouts.
Senders for oil pressure, water temperature and speed are included. An optional BIM-01-2 module is available for integration with stock or aftermarket EFI systems.

- Water Temperature: 1/8" NPT ground-isolated sensor with 10 ft harness
- Oil Pressure: 1/8" NPT solid state sensor with 10 ft harness
- Cable Driven Speed Sensor/Generator with 10 ft harness, replacing GM style speedometer cables (requires approximately 5" clearance between cable drive output and any obstruction)
- Bushings for 1/8" to 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" NPT, plus 12mm and 16mm x 1.5 thread applications
Notes
- Bezel not included; system uses an OEM or reproduction style bezel
- Vehicles with factory A/C will require modifications to the stock gauge bezel ductwork
- Gear Position indicator requires optional GSS-3000 sensor (sold separately)
- Part # 130011 (sold separately) allows relocation of the pulse generator when additional clearance is needed; Tremec and Ford style adaptors available on request
- DIM-1 is a common accessory for on-the-fly rotary brightness control (sold separately)
- Not all OEM indicator lamp functions will be replaced; unused indicators may be repurposed as needed
