Description
The Dakota Digital RTX-49C-X RTX Instrument System is a direct-fit gauge upgrade designed specifically for the 1949-50 Chevy car dashboard. It uses a purpose-built billet aluminum gauge housing that bolts into place with stock hardware and retains the OEM crimp-on front bezel, giving owners a factory-style appearance with modern capability underneath.
Dakota Digital's engineering team studied the original instrument layout and faithfully translated that timeless look while adding LED backlighting, stepper-motor needle movement, a full-color TFT message center, and a host of other late-model features. The RTX series focuses on retaining the stock appearance without sacrificing modern functionality, incorporating OEM design cues in the layout, face styling, and indicators so the gauges blend in until the LED backlighting is switched on.
Each CNC-machined housing is filled with electronics designed and built in-house by Dakota Digital. The high-definition TFT message center can be configured to display a wide range of information, and the system utilizes a central control box to simplify installation and setup.

Included Sensors
- Water Temperature: 1/8" NPT, ground isolated sensor with a 10 ft harness
- Oil Pressure: 1/8" NPT solid state sensor with a 10 ft harness
- Cable Driven Speed Sensor/Generator: replaces GM style speedometer cables with a 10 ft harness; requires approximately 5" clearance between the cable drive output and any obstruction (Part # 130011, sold separately, allows relocation of the pulse generator when additional clearance is required)
- Bushings: 1/8" to 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" NPT bushings, plus bushings for 12mm and 16mm x 1.5 threads
Notes
- Bezel not included; the system is designed to use the OEM bezel
- Not all OEM indicator lamp functions will be replaced; unused indicators may be repurposed as desired
- DIM-1 accessory available for on-the-fly rotary brightness control
- GPS-50-2 may be used to eliminate the need for speedometer calibration
