Description
The Dakota Digital HDX-77C-CAP-K is a bolt-in HDX instrument system designed for 1977-90 Chevy Caprice/Impala B-bodies, featuring a black alloy gauge-face styling. This system delivers color-changing backlighting, full-color digital TFT screens, and mobile-app compatibility, with no cutting required for installation, though some wiring is necessary to complete the conversion. Installation and setup are straightforward whether the vehicle retains a stock drivetrain or has been LS-converted.
Independent illumination colors can be selected for gauge readings, needles, and message centers. Calibration and personal settings are managed through built-in capacitive-touch buttons or the available Bluetooth app for Apple and Android devices. Each needle hub is black nickel plated spun-aluminum to match the buttons. The system features dead-faced indicators and a red, settable warning light for each gauge, with a central control box that simplifies installation using vehicle-harness sourced signals and supplied solid state sending units.
The system uses an OEM or reproduction style bezel; the bezel itself is not included.

- Water Temperature: 1/8" NPT, ground isolated sensor with a 10 ft harness
- Oil Pressure: 1/8" NPT solid state sensor with a 10 ft harness
- Cable Driven Speed Sensor/Generator: replaces GM style speedometer cables with a 10 ft harness, requires approximately 5" clearance between the cable drive output and any obstruction
- Bushings: 1/8" to 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" NPT bushings, plus bushings for 12mm and 16mm x 1.5 threads
Notes
- Bezel not included; system uses an OEM or reproduction style bezel
- Gear Position indicator requires optional GSS-3000 sensor (sold separately)
- Part # 130011 (sold separately) allows relocation of the pulse generator when additional clearance is required; Tremec and Ford style adaptors available on request
- Not all OEM indicator lamp functions will be replaced; unused indicators may be repurposed as desired
- DIM-1 is a common accessory for on-the-fly rotary dimmer control
- GPS-50-2 may be used to eliminate the need for speedometer calibration
