Description
The Dakota Digital HDX-84B-REG-K is a direct-fit HDX instrument system upgrade for 1978-87 Buick Regal, Grand National, and T-Type models, featuring a black alloy gauge face. Six analog instruments surround a full-color TFT message center display that can be configured to show boost, transmission temperature, fuel pressure, and more at a glance.
This system allows independent illumination color selection for gauge readings, needles, and message centers, with over 30 user-selectable LED lighting colors to match the vehicle's paint and interior. Calibration and personal settings are managed through built-in capacitive-touch buttons or the available Bluetooth app for Apple and Android devices.
Each needle hub is black nickel plated spun-aluminum to match the control buttons. The system fits into the stock cluster and housing, with a central control box that simplifies installation using vehicle-harness sourced signals and supplied solid-state sending units.

Included Sensors
- Water Temperature: 1/8" NPT, ground isolated sensor with a 10 ft harness
- Oil Pressure: 1/8" NPT solid state sensor with a 10 ft harness
- Cable Driven Speed Sensor/Generator: replaces GM style speedometer cables with a 10 ft harness; requires approximately 5" clearance between the cable drive output and any obstruction
- Bushings: 1/8" to 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" NPT, plus 12mm and 16mm x 1.5 thread bushings
Notes
- Requires the use of the factory bezel; bezel not included
- Part # 130011 (sold separately) allows for relocation of the pulse generator when additional clearance is required; Tremec and Ford style adaptors available on request
- Optional GSS-3000 sensor required for Gear Position indicator
- Not all OEM indicator lamp functions will be replaced; unused indicators may be repurposed as desired
- DIM-1 accessory available for on-the-fly rotary brightness control
- GPS-50-2 may be used to eliminate the need for speedometer calibration
